Rustic Log Furniture
Rustic log furniture is often used to bring the spirit of the outdoors into your home. It is especially popular as a means of decorating vacation cabins and ski lodges. The rustic nature of this furniture adds a real sense of nature to any room.
The primary design element of most rustic log furniture is its seemingly unfinished quality. Rough-hewn logs and planks are the norm, with many of these pieces only receiving a modest sanding. In many cases the bark of the tree is left intact, adding some natural accents to the piece.
Rustic log furniture often utilizes raw pieces of the tree as a focal point of the piece. Dining room tables, for instance, often use the stump of a tree as the main support structure. While the bark may be removed, they are rarely sanded or refined in order to keep their natural beauty.
